Welcome to my site about my Naturally Reared Carolina Dogs! Carolina Dogs are a relatively new, rare breed recognized by the UKC, AKC-FSS & ARBA, and are quite possibly America's own indigenous wild dog. CDs make wonderful companions, athletes, hunters, and bedwarmers! Natural Rearing is the philosophy wherein we raise our dogs and puppies by following the 8 Laws of Health, employing Biologically Appropriate Raw Food and no toxic chemicals on, in or around our dogs. We have found this way of life fosters balance, health and longevity in our beloved companions. For our puppies, we welcome homes that have a very similar philosophy about dog rearing, or wish to learn. Check us out, follow us and share us in other places!!! 2011 Litter... Where Are They Now?

East Tennessee Dingos Cooter & Daisy's 2011 Litter
*****************************************************************

Shasta lives with Chris & Sarah in Florida.

Shasta is our first Carolina Dog, and we cannot imagine life without her!  She’s roughly 30 pounds, and every inch of her is a snuggle bug. She adores being the center of attention and cuddling and is a total “velcro dog”—you can’t leave the room without her following and curling beside you.  She adores any form of play—chase, wrestling, fetch, tug-of-war—and is never too rough.  If she hears you say, “Ow!” she immediately stops what she’s doing to lick the “wound.”

She’s never bitten anyone out of aggression or broken the skin in play.  She’s never snapped at anyone, and is not “mouthy” when playing with children.  For all of her energy, she’s very gentle.

One of Shasta’s favorite things is food. You can’t step into the kitchen without her following. She even runs to the oven when the timer dings because she knows there’s food in there (though we don’t feed her from our plates at all). She’s highly food motivated but will wait to eat until commanded, even if her treat is right on her nose!

Shasta’s very eager to please and instantly repentant if she’s caught doing something she shouldn’t—she rolls over on her back then rubs against you until she’s “forgiven.”

We also have two cats in our “pack,” and we have had no issues between Shasta and our other furballs.  In general, she gets along well with other dogs after being introduced.  She’s never shown any form of animal aggression despite her prey drive, which is usually displayed in stalking lizards, grasshoppers, and squirrels.
Shasta is incredibly warm and friendly towards our guests and does well with children.  In the spring, we hosted a bonfire at our property and had over fifty guests whom Shasta had never met.
Our dingo pup was ecstatic the moment people walked in the door. That night, she made it her mission to be petted by every human being before trying to sneak crumbs from under the buffet table.  I frequently have my little sisters (ages nine and six) over for sleepovers, and they can’t wait to play with Shasta, who loves the extra attention.
Within the past couple of months, Shasta has developed a sense of “ownership” of the house and yard.  She fervently stares out of our bedroom or living room windows, surveying the premises.  She barks whenever she senses a new critter or person in the yard, making her an excellent watch dog without being yappy or aggressive.
Despite Shasta’s longer coat, she does not shed heavily for most of the year. However, during her annual seasonal shed, if hair were money, we’d be billionaires.
She has had no health concerns and is only minimally vaccinated.  She was spayed the week of her first birthday and went through one heat cycle with no issues.
She was easily housebroken, though it took her a while to grow comfortable with going outside when the yard was damp, which was DAILY considering we live in Florida.  Now, she doesn’t have any issues going into the yard, wet or dry.

Jesse lives in Tennessee with Angela & Ken.

He is such a love bug, he has fits so perfect into our life it is unbelievable. He has appointed himself cat police, when the cats get into a fight (which they do quick often) he goes and breaks it, he just takes his nose and nudges them apart and they go on their way.
We started today trying to get him used to the outside kennel, I hate that, but I realize he can't always go everywhere with us and when it gets hot next summer we can't leave him in the car like we can now so I know he needs to be comfortable with that. I put him in when I went out today and Ken stayed home and watched him out the window, he said he cried a little bit and just laid down and watched the driveway, I got home in about a hour and half and let him out (we tried this once before and Ken could not stand it and let him out before I got home) he just run around the yard barking for awhile, I think he will be OK with it, not like he will be there very often.

He is such a joy, he has brought so much laughter and happiness to our lives. I so loved my little Patches and fancy that we lost this year, was sure I could never love another dog, Patches took every step I took for 15 years and God sent Jesse who takes every step with me, if its possible I may love him more.

Patches always slept in the bed with me when Ken was out of town, when he was in town she slept in her bed, Ken lets Jesse sleep right in the middle of the bed, never thought I would see my husband so attached to a dog, he is crazy about him. Thank you Susan for raising such a special dog

Huey lives in Florida with Chris & Ron.

Huey has been such an amazing addition to our family.Huey is the light of our life and Miso is so so happy to have a brother again.

He is doing great and loves his backyard. He has successfully discovered the marsh and gets into the mud on a regular basis (good thing he doesn't mind getting rinsed off with the hose!).

He's really great with the cats and him and Miso are inseparable. They really are doggie soul mates.

We've been feeding him lots of chicken and pork chops because that seems the easiest for us to get. He gets quail every few weeks and steaks from out hunter friend. We offered him some tongue (from the hunter) and he was not interested at all. For treats we give him cheese and chicken feet.

He got his rabies shot in September and we are not planning any other vaccines at the moment. I do have him on heart worm preventative because the mosquitoes are really bad here.

Takoda Lives in Georgia with Lauri. I got my dingo at 8 weeks and Thanks to his wonderful breeder Susan, for posting pics and videos for us i got to pick him out and pick a name for him before I got him.... His name is Waya Takoda Wanageeska, which means wolf, friend to everyone, white spirit. So we call him Takoda.

He is truly an exceptional dog, as I have had breeds of all kinds and many.. It has been not only an adventure but an inspiration as I am learning from him as well.. I watch everything he does his actions how he speaks to us and interacts with us and others as a well as animals.
I never did train Takoda it is as if he came to us that way born that way to understand us.

Takoda has never had cooked food he has always been raised on raw food 80&%meat 10%bone 10%organ, his parents were raw fed, so he was weaned on raw. I think it is important to keep him healthy as I can, as I also only get his rabies and no other vaccines. I will not risk his health by those vaccines like I did in the past with my other dogs, being brainwashed by society.

He got his rabies vaccine when he was 7 months old. 3 weeks later I was out of town for work and I had just flew back in at was in the airport phone, so called my husband to see how Takoda was and let him know I was to be home soon when he told me he was going to take Takoda to ER, I said no why? He said he was not feeling too good and threw up once and kind of mopey. I immediately called Susan. She told him to wait,  it could be Takoda was just missing me, so I got home he greeted me and I could tell he was not quite to par, so the next morning I called the vet an hour away and told them I needed to bring him. The local vet said it was an immediate high level parvo result so retested again same thing. The next day I called first thing in the morning to see how he is doing and they said he did good all night and if he will eat he can go home.  After 1 day and a half at the vet only, he was over it.. We came home, he ate his raw chicken with bone etc and went outside and chased squirrels etc as if nothing ever happened and has been well every since! The Holistic Vet said: "I'm just going to tell you the reason Takoda pulled out like he did is because he is fed raw and no vaccines he is building his immune system."

I keep him on all natural things food flea and mosquito protection etc. He is strong ,healthy, beautiful teeth, smells good all the time , when he gets wet he don't smell like a wet dog and and the best thing is he NEVER EVER has gas ... that is so cool so hubby cannot blame it on the dog...

He is 15 months now and he still has doggie time out with that pig even after he eats he gets his pig.. ever since we got him that pig he has done this, he takes all his toys at night to my room one at a time puts them in the bed and sleeps with all of them . The next morning he takes them all one at a time back to the rest of the house, the pig and his other toys he will take back and fourth outside on the porch with him..I guess he is pretending its his pack.

He is active never has ate the furniture or did bad things .
He is more than I ever expected.. He is every thing I wanted and more .. He listens and understands us as we are always learning from him.. I am so happy I got this breed I've always loved the dingos and any wild or rare breed Ill never have anything else!!!!

Thank you , Susan for breeding yours for us to be able to have such wonderful dogs!!!!

Star lives in Mississippi with Rachel.

Star is the Star
of the show around here!

She is my constant companion and she runs our little pack too.
Star is on the right.
Unexpectedly, I found two dingo pups in June, there was a massive heat wave and a heat index of 110! They were in bad shape. Star took charge and taught them how to do everything and she herds them in at night for bedtime.
She is a good watch dog and an avid huntress &has killed several snakes, squirrels & birds.

She also likes to dig holes! She has a very sweet disposition - as long as she is the Star!
